Instagram is working on a solution that aims to stop the wave of fake views of stories that have flooded the social network. About it informs TechCrunch.
According to the publication, a spike in fake views is associated with a new tactic: spam accounts “watch” stories so that the system does not mark them as bots, as well as to attract new subscribers.
The growth of fake views in this area increased after Instagram tightened the fight with the services for building up likes and subscribers in November.
According to TechCrunch, fake views are provided by third-party services that own the database of phone numbers. Among the accounts found to be in such views are SMM agencies and public figures who seek to increase their presence in the service.
However, customers of such services do not take into account the fact that Instagram constantly monitors
suspicious activity and track violations so sooner or later
put an end to them.
An Instagram representative in a TechCrunch comment confirmed that the company is aware of the issue of fake story views and is working on measures to reduce this activity.
Today, there are several ways to help protect yourself from fake views. So, you can make the profile closed, block spam accounts that are displayed in the audience, and also report spam.
Ultimately, Instagram will automatically start blocking such views, and users will no longer need to manually protect their accounts.
