WordPress CMS Platform significantly updated Gutenberg block editor functionality. Major changes in version 7.1 include UI improvements and new features.
New welcome interface
This interface is displayed for new users of the editor and helps to familiarize them with the features of its work. Now it looks like this:
In the new version of the editor, users can add captions to tables.
The developers also added a switch to the table interface
between editing and selection modes.
The editing mode allows you to make changes to the table, and the selection mode allows you to select the desired item.
Mobile Editing Improvements
The next two updates touched the editing interface.

In this release, WordPress also removed PHP 5.2 compatibility code from the block.

Finally, the developers also shared information on the Gutenberg boot time for different versions:
7.1.0: 7.45 sec. Gutenberg
7.0.0: 6.84 sec. WordPress
5.3: 6.33 s As can be seen from these data, over time, Gutenberg began to work a little slower. In this case, the difference between versions 7.0 and 7.1 is less than 1 second.
Recall that WordPress first introduced Gutenberg in December 2018. It has become a major innovation in WP version 5.0.
